With Forza Motorsport 6 being officially released to the public on September 15th (US), the race is now on to set the 2016 Pro roster. FDA has certainly come to understand that there is a brand new breed of drifters in the Forza franchise, and things have definitely changed since the last time it saw competition on Forza Motorsport 4. With that in mind, Forza Drift Allstars has decided to run three individual exhibition events labeled the "FDA Pro Qualifier Series" in order to test some of the new in-game features in a competition environment, and get an idea of the drivers and driving level in the new era of drifting in Forza.
Here's everything you need to know about the Pro Qualifier events that start in October.
- All drivers are invited - It doesn't matter whether you were Pro or Pro-AM the last time FDA was running events, you don't even have to have driven with FDA before. Anyone can sign up and compete at any combination of the three events.
- These events MATTER - While there is no championship or points to be worried about here, driving performance in these events will be used to evaluate whether or not new drivers are cut out to run in the 2016 Pro Series. There is also the potential for podium finishers at these events to automatically earn a 2016 Pro License.
- Event style will be "Pro calibre" - The judging style will be identical to the kind FDA uses in their Pro Series, and all drivers will be judged at a Pro level. The car regulations and rules for the event will be taken from the new 2016 Rulebook, which may or may not be entirely complete when the first event takes place in October.
- These events are very EXPERIMENTAL - With it being FDA's first attempt at running an event, and more importantly the first drifting event on Forza Motorsport 6, the staff and organizers are going to be trying out many different things in order to see how events could be run in 2016. Drivers shouldn't expect any two events in the Pro Qualifier to be exactly identical.
- You decide the tracks - With so much of the evolution of Forza Drift Allstars being dictated by the front office, the outlook of the FDA Staff as of late is to hand more and more weight to the drivers in the community so that FDA truly becomes a community experience (an article on the Player's Association will come later, explaining more about this). The first act of giving the drivers more say is allowing anyone in the community to vote which three tracks they want to see FDA use for the Pro Qualifier Series. You may vote by going to this website's homepage.
- The first event is going to suck, probably - Again, this is the very first drifting event on Forza Motorsport 6, and the very first one hosted by FDA since September 2014. This means things will be very rusty, and most of the ideas that the FDA Staff has about running a competition on the next gen console may not work the first time through. There will be unique situations that won't even be realized or considered until under the gun at an event (which is the purpose of having these events). Don't come in with high expectations in October, just be ready to drive, and hopefully have fun.
Thank you for reading and continuing to show interest in our growing community. If you want to sign up and get involved with everything else FDA has to offer, join the conversation here: http://bit.ly/1UHstnT
